Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication

Step 1: First, click the following link to access the MFA Portal: Michener MFA

Step 2: Enter your Michener account login credentials.

Step 3: Choose 1 out of 3 authentication methods available in the dropdown list.

  1. Mobile Application
  2. Text message
  3. Phone call

It is recommended to use the Mobile App option.

Option 1 (Recommended) – Mobile App

Step 1: Download the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone.

Android: Google Play

Step 2: On the MFA setup website, click “Generate Activation Code”

Step 3: An activation code will display.  You will have 10 minutes to complete setup in the App.

Step 4: Open the App, and click "Add Account", then “Work or school account”.

Step 5: Scan the QR code displayed on the MFA website. If you're unable to scan the code, please manually enter the activation code.

Step 6: On the MFA website, click “Authenticate Me Now”.

Step 7: In the App, you will get a pop-up to approve the sign-in. Tap “Approve”. Please tap the notification as promptly as possible, as the connection will close after 10 seconds.

Step 8: On the MFA website, continue the setup by answering the security questions, there are multiple pre-set options to choose from.

Option 2 – Text Message

NOTE: Our recommended solution is to use the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app, as it is more reliable and easier to use. Please only utilize this option if you do not have a mobile device capable of running the app.

Step 1: Choose "Text Message" from the dropdown list.

Step 2: Choose your country from the dropdown, and enter your phone number. Then click "Text Me Now to Authenticate".

Step 3: You will receive a text message with a six-digit number, shown below, reply to the text message with the six digit number. Please reply with the number as promptly as possible, as the connection will close after 10 seconds. Copying & pasting is recommended, as this is faster than typing it out.

Step 4: On the MFA website, continue the setup by answering the security questions, there are multiple pre-set options to choose from.

Option 3 – Phone Call

NOTE: Our recommended solution is to use the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app, as it is more reliable and easier to use. Please only utilize this option if you do not have a mobile device capable of running the app.

Step 1: Choose "Phone Call" from the dropdown list.

Step 2: Choose your country from the dropdown, and enter your phone number. We recommend using a mobile phone, but using a landline is possible. If you would like, you can provide a backup phone number, although this step is optional.

You will also need to choose a PIN, you will enter this during authentication. The minimum length for your PIN is 4 digits. Once this is complete, click "Call Me Now to Authenticate".

Step 3: You should then receive a phone call. Answer the call and follow the instructions. Please complete the verification steps as quickly as possible, as the connection will close after 10 seconds.
