PayPal FAQs

What is PayPal?

PayPal is a payment system used by many online stores and services. At The Michener Institute, it is used for loading printing credit onto your student account.

Do I need an account to use PayPal?

While we recommend that you set up an account to use PayPal to make future payments easier and faster and to enable additional forms of payment, an account is not required. PayPal can be used like any other online payment web form. Just provide your billing address, payment information, and you can do a simple one-time payment through PayPal without an account.

How do I set up a PayPal account?

Setting up a PayPal account is quick and easy. If you need assistance, please refer to this article:

What forms of payment can I use?

Without an account, PayPal accepts any major credit card (MasterCard, VISA or American Express). You can also use a VISA Debit Card or prepaid credit card such as a Vanilla MasterCard or RBC Visa Gift Card. With an account, you can additionally link any standard debit card to your account, although this is a more involved and time consuming process. A standard credit card is the recommended form of payment.

Can I use another person's credit card/payment information/PayPal account?

Yes. As with any other purchase, you'll need to ensure you have permission to use the other person's payment information, credit card or PayPal account. However there is no requirement that the account used to add printing credit needs to be under your name. Any account or payment method you have permission to use is accepted.

What are the amounts I can add to my account?

The amounts you can add to your account are as follows: $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, $35, $40.

Why can't I add less than $10 at a time?

Unfortunately due to the credit card and PayPal fees involved, $10 is the smallest amount we can accept.

If I have printing credit leftover when I graduate, can I get a refund?

Michener will only refund printing credit balances greater than $20, after a student has graduated.
